Nanzoin temple

  

This Shakyamuni Nirvana bronze statue is found in Nanzoin temple in Fukuoka.

It is the biggest Shakyamuni Nirvana statue in bronze. 

The length is 41 meters, and it’s height is 11 meters, and the weight is 300 tons.

It is a same size as the Statue of Liberty in NY.

It was made in 1995. 

Inside the statue, bones of Shakyamuni are preserved. 

The temple became famous because of a rumor that the chief priest won 130000000 yen in the lottery and donated it all to the temple.  

It takes about 30 minutes by a train or a car from downtown Fukuoka.
