Nokonoshima

Nokonoshima island floats in the Gulf of Hakata, Fukuoka.

People can go there using a ferry.

It takes 10 minutes from Meinohama ferry landing.

You can enjoy many flowers in season, like cosmos, rape flowers, sun flowers and daffodils etc. at island park.

The Flowers in this photo are livingstone daisies.

It is a nice place which is not so far from Fukuoka city.

I want to visit there again.

Kumamon

This black bear is Kumamon.

In Japan there are many cute characters to represent local areas.

Kumamon is from Kumamoto.

Everybody knows this character because he has no copyright, so it is used for many products.

I painted Kumamon in front of Mt. Aso.

The area around Mt.Aso was hit hard.

Don’t give up Kumamoto!

Ariake sea

This is a view of Ariake sea.

It’s a bay located in the northwest area of Kyusyu and surrounded by Nagasaki, Saga, Fukuoka and Kumamoto.

And it is one of the biggest tidelands in Japan.

Many interesting creatures live there.

One famous one is “Mutsugoro (Mudskippers)”.

They are about 15 centimeters long and crawl using their pectoral fins and move by jumping on the mud.

It is an unusual looking fish and has funny movements, so people go to watch them.

I would like to see it sometime.

By the way, it is edible.

Sightseeing boat

The ocean scenery of Yobuko is beautiful.

Yobuko is used to be a whaling town.

There are two sightseeing boats.

One is the Zeela which shaped like a whale and  you can see fishes from windows in the bottom of the boat.

And the other one is the Ikamaru, which goes around showing eroded caves.

I wanted to ride the Ikamaru.

But when I went there, it was cancelled because of rough waters.

I was a little disappointed.
