varicolored carp

This is varicolored carp (Nishiki koi) at Dazaifu Tenmangu.

For me, the carp is a very Japanese thing.

Varicolored carps are auspiciously colored, and are loved by Japanese.

Actually the origin of carp is China, and they came to Japan in about the first century AD.

Nowadays they inhabit in all over the world.

But varicolored carp was born in Niigata Japan about 200 years ago.

Many temples have a carp pond.

When I was a child, my house had a carp pond, and my father was taking care of it.

Umegae Mochi

This is Umegae Mochi.

Sweet bean paste is inside of rice cake, and it is roasted.

A plum blossom shape is carved on the surface.

Many shops sell it on the road approaching Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine.

After I bought one and ate it, I found the shop which had a big line in front.

So I and my friend also decided to buy it there and compare them.

The later one was much more delicious, though I liked first one, too.

The shop which was better is ” Kasa no Ie”.

I love Umegae Mochi.

Dazaifu Tenmangu

Dazaifu Tenmangu is a famous shrine in Fukuoka.

The Deity of the Shrine is Michizane Sugawara (Tenjin sama).

It is the head shrine of 12000 Tenjin sama shrines in Japan.

It is the God of learning, sincerity and it expels evil spirits.

Students come to pray there for passing the school entry examination.

It seems that 7000000 worshipers come to Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine every year.

It is about 20 minutes from Middle of Fukuoka city by Nishitetsu train.

Mexican (Thailand)

Oh, one more thing.

I went to a Mexican restaurant in Bangkok.

My family used to live in California.

So we like Mexican food like Tacos and Burritos.

This restaurant’s name is LA MONITA taqueria.

It is near BTS Phloen Chit station.

If you got tired of Thai food, try it.

I didn’t know that I would eat Mexican food in Thailand.

But it was so good and I was happy.

Noodle (Thailand)

This noodle I ate is from some little local shop on the ally in Khlong Bang Luang.

It was so good.

There are many delicious foods in Thailand like Pad thai, Khao man gai, thai curry and many spicy others.

Now I am in Japan.

So I will get back to things in Japan.

I may sometimes write things about Thailand and other countries I visited.
